愛爾蘭的傳說, Leprechaun常是作弄人的小精靈, 能捉到他的人, 就可以得到他在彩虹尾端藏的那一盆金。 看看在Highlightskids中的小故事, 其實人還是要努力, 沒有什麼不勞而獲的東西, 至少我還沒有這麼好命。再說氣象學裡, 彩虹是一個圓, 根本沒有"the end", 看不到的部份只是因為地球是圓的, 所以哪來的尾端呢?

Shamrock (four leaf clover) 幸運草, 從前玩具沒那麼多, 所以醡漿草(Oxalidaceae)也可玩, 拔一枝放在口中, 咬起來味道酸酸的,曾經也找過變種四葉的醡漿草, 它與clover 三葉草不同, 沒嚐過三葉草是什麼味道。
這既然是個愛爾蘭的節日, 想試做一下愛爾蘭有名的Soda bread嗎? 按下圖可看食譜。
Irish Soda Bread
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup raisins
1 Tablespoon caraway seed
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
4 Tablespoons buter or margarine, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 2-quart round casserole.
In medium bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder,salt and baking soda.
Stir in raisins and caraway seed. With fork, blend in buttermilk and melted butter until evenly moist.Turn into casserole and cut an "X" on top. Bake one hour and ten minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from casserole. Cool on wire rack.
